UBC Thunderbird Olympic Arena
The University of British Columbia's Thunderbird Olympic Arena opened in August 2008, but Panther's team had been working with the Arena since the first slab of concrete was poured almost two years earlier.
Given our long history of producing successful events at venues around UBC, Panther was brought in at the planning phase to consult on the various elements needed to enable an Olympic-level sporting venue to support concerts, theatre, corporate and public events.Since then, our sister company Panther Constructors has built concession stands and box offices, our production technical and rigging teams have installed concert drapery systems, fall arrest lines and hockey safety nets, and our event management team has been contracted as Technical Directors and event managers for every event held in the Arena from black-tie awards dinners to heavy metal concerts.
Every new venue has its own unique challenges in the first months, and working through these together with the Arena staff has been an intense and rewarding process!
